Our Story

Culture & History...

We have over 50 years of collective experience in the cask whisky industry between myself and our partners. Honouring the historic roots of the industry, our head office is located at 1 Royal Exchange in the city - the spiritual home of trade in the West since the 1500s, just adjacent to the Bank of England, where brass plates embellished with wine and ex-bourbon casks adorn the surrounding historic lamp posts. This is testament to the trade of cask alcohol in the historic part of London's ancient financial district, so it made sense for us to establish here as home.

What Sets us Apart from the Crowd...

We are unique in a number of ways. There are several companies selling whisky casks currently, but most of these are very large operations with dozens of brokers in a call centre environment. We are completely different to these types of companies in the sense that we don't rent an entire floor in a London skyscraper full of brokers that need to be paid high salaries. We are a boutique outfit with only a handful of skilled and very experienced people in our small team.

As a small team, our operational costs are considerably lower than 99% of other brokerages, which means that we can offer the best pricing on the market, enabling our clients to directly benefit from this - as the headroom for obtaining any profit is much easier. We only onboard a certain number of new clients per month, which allows us to give the necessary care and attention to each and every individual client as we welcome you through our doors.

Crucial to Your Success in the Market

We are only one of a handful of companies that are able to supply all clients with their own Deliver Order, (or D.O for short). This provides our clients with freehold ownership over their casks, which is very important as you need this documentation to sell your casks when the time comes. If you don't have the D.O, then you don’t have freehold ownership of your casks, and the company or distillery you bought the cask through technically owns them, which unfortunately leaves you powerless when it comes to trading out. This is a huge problem in the industry currently, so navigating this correctly by using the right company is absolutely key.

A Word from Our Founder...

We wanted to establish a boutique brokerage without the high costs involved in running the huge teams that other whisky trading companies have to deal with. So we keep our prices low because we can afford to, enabling our clients to get off to the best start possible without compromising on quality."

Elliot Doney - Founder & Director

"I've worked as a sole trader in the industry for many years, but what inspired me to launch Rodrigues & Ross, and in particular, the name of the business, is something very close to my heart; ‘Rodrigues’ is my mother's maiden name and she is a direct descendent from a madeira wine cask merchant. Madeira wine casks are used widely in the scotch industry to mature single malts and add a “sweet” finish to the whisky.

'Ross' refers to one of our partners and co-founders, who's family roots are Scotch and Irish, and go deep into the Whisky industry So we combined our family names to create Rodrigues & Ross - with the aim to supply our clients with competitively-priced casks of Scotch Whisky, Irish Whiskey and Rum, using our established industry connections and family links.
